Mark Tierno, a 10 Day Book Club participating author writes on February 1:
"Well, things are starting to move for me. Sunday will be my first in my new series of interviewing other authors over a live conference call that others can listen in on (sign up on maldene.com), then later the mp3 of the event will be available on my site. On Tuesday, someone with a writer's show on a mountain-state radio station will be interviewing me as a call-in (live-streaming; I'll be posting about it on my site real soon). But it all started here (10dbc)." Mark Tierno, Author of Maldene
Mark participated in a virtual book club during the slowest time of the year for most businesses. December is usually a great time for retail but the rest of the world generally shuts down. And yet, something good came through the book club process for Mark. Not only is he much happier and more confident - the wheels are all moving in the right direction. We applaud his motivation and suggest his momentum was gained by time spent with Melianne Lussier, Marketing and Sales Director for 10 Day Book Club. Meli mentored Mark and offered one-on-one guidance during a time when the rest of world was shopping.
February brings two published authors to the virtual book club format of 10 Day Book Club. Stuart Aken and Nathan Reese Maher. You are encouraged to learn more and join their sessions. The opportunity to interact with the authors is now through February 21.
While you are connecting with Stuart and Nathan on the website take a look around and see how 10 Day Book Club (“10dbc”) provides author support. First, manuscript development is first and foremost for novice and established writers. Development is done through input by people reading in the virtual book club format. Readers provide comments through a Blog, which the writer has the ability to respond to. Also, readers have an opportunity to earn income while reading and guiding the writer on next steps in manuscript development. Is the manuscript ready for editing or publishing? Maybe another book club is needed after manuscript revisions to create a better story. The paid readers, which offer direction, are called “Read (red) Heads.”
Michelle Oeltjen is now a published author. She went through a 10 Day Book Club in May 2010. She writes:
"I highly enjoyed working with (10DBC) and utilizing (the) site to assist me in gaining invaluable feedback on my first book. The process was easy, effective and just what I needed to help me along in my editing process. I very much recommend 10DBC to aspiring writers just starting out." Michelle Oeltjen, Author "Love, Lies and Lessons Learned"
Self-published authors have found success in the virtual book clubs for marketing their books (Mark Tierno is an example). The interaction with readers is only one facet of the process. After book clubs end, scheduled chat times are available and authors have the opportunity to check in with their book club members. This scenario creates the right ingredient for promoting “word of mouth,” which is still, by far, the best way to spread the word. Today, mouths are huge with resources like Facebook (800+ million users) and other social mediums.
Novice and experienced writers find benefit in the reader/writer combination but there’s more. A person may choose to participate at a networking level, which includes social networking, trainings, one-on-one marketing and so much more. This service creates an easy marketing avenue and provides training on maintaining the process.

Carolyn Jones (opening the gates of the heart) had this to say about a training she attended in January:
"I was so pleasantly surprised with the Facebook Training. I did not expect the individualized help which we each received. It was an interactive training and I gained so much from that format. Meli is certainly knowledgable about Facebook and all the new changes that have come about. Thank you for offering the seminar! It was most helpful!"
Virtual book club memberships are free. Writers purchase a level of participation, which range from $10 for a 10 Day Book Club to $525 for the Premium Level, which offers six months of exclusive services.
If a writer hasn’t published yet and chooses to - eBook publishing with 10dbc is an option and it is partnered with networking levels for marketing. The current outlets for 10dbc's eBooks are Amazon (kindle), Barnes & Noble (nook) and the Apple bookstore.
And, there is more. Social networking trainings are included in the networking levels and are also available ala carte. Prices start at $10 for the basics to $39 for detailed trainings on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Blogging, there are also one-on-one coaching sessions for $55. A person does not have to be a writer to participate. Trainings are provided by Meli Lussier.
10 Day Book Club creates an opportunity for writers to share their work. The potential is global but there are also private clubs available for a writer who just wants to invite friends and family to their showcase.

One last quote and this one comes from Michael Smith. He participated in a virtual book club with "From My Heart To Yours" during the summer, 2010. He has many published pieces including a story in the original "Chicken Soup for the Soul." He writes:
"I believe in the mission (10dbc) and support it with the belief it will one day be the most sought-after sites for new writers to turn to."
